We recently completed installation of a new acrylic lobby sign for Saguaro Springs, a Mesa, AZ wellness center. The sign turned out especially well (no pun intended) and does a great job of demonstrating how a clear piece of acrylic can be turned into something very special here at Blue Chip Signworks.
Lobby Signs are always fun projects because they represent the ultimate display of a client’s logo and name. The client can select the position, size, colors, lighting, etc to best display who they are and what they stand for with one sign. It’s the first impression clients have coming into the office and it has to be right.
Starting with a 54″ x 18″ piece of cut clear acrylic, the edges were fine sanded and flame polished for a professional look. The back of the acrylic was painted a deep blue and allowed to thoroughly dry. On the front, Saguaro Springs selected 1/8″ laser cut 3D acrylic letters and logo. These are attached to the substrate acrylic with acrylic weld and faced with printed and laminated 3M vinyl.
The sign is mounted to the wall using 1″ aluminum standoffs. The standoffs are painted to match the background color of the acrylic. The sign is installed centrally on the wall, just above eye level height. It immediately catches the eye when you enter the room. The client’s logo is very well designed and colorful anyway. By adding the deep blue back painting, it gives the 3D cut logo and lettering even more depth, reflectively. They just loved it.
